Job summary

J&O Plastics in Ohio seeks a hands-on Production Supervisor to lead an injection molding production team on an assigned shift. You’ll own people, decisions, execution, and output, with autonomy beyond typical supervisory roles and a focus on safety and quality.

The successful candidate is a visible floor leader who coaches employees, drives results, and maintains 5S standards. Strong preference for experience in plastics and high-volume manufacturing, with bilingual skills a plus.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of leadership in manufacturing, team-lead, or production supervision.
• Ability to lead employees and meet production needs in a fast-paced setting.
• Work autonomously with smart escalation when needed.
• Experience with 5S, Lean, standard work, and visual management.
• Experience with root-cause methods (5-Why, 8D, DMAIC, fishbone).
• Track production metrics like output, downtime, scrap, and efficiency.
• Strong communication, decision-making, and conflict-resolution skills.
• High school diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Direct injection molding production across 45 presses on the assigned shift.
• Assign personnel based on production needs, qualifications, and machine requirements.
• Monitor output, machine status, cycle performance, downtime, and quality in real time.
• Execute mold changes and setup, minimizing downtime between runs.
• Identify schedule risks, staffing shortages, and equipment or material issues early.
• Address performance concerns promptly and recognize strong performers.
• Apply company policies fairly and maintain a respectful workplace.
• Deliver a complete handoff to the incoming Shift Leader.
• Escalate significant concerns to Senior Production Management.
• Sustain 5S and visual management so audits look the same across shifts.
