Job summary

Newk’s Eatery in Waco is seeking a Shift Leader to guide daily restaurant operations, coach team members, and uphold guest service standards in a fast-paced setting.

You’ll report to the General Manager, lead shift activities, ensure food quality and safety, and help drive hospitality across all guest touchpoints. Evening and weekend availability is required; ServSafe certification is a plus.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of restaurant or food service experience.
• ServSafe Manager Certification (or willingness to obtain).
• Must be 21 years+ or older.
• Ability to work at least 30 hours per week.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Lead and motivate the team during each shift
• Ensure excellent guest service and resolve guest concerns professionally
• Coach, train, and develop team members
• Assign and monitor opening, mid-shift, and closing duties
• Maintain food quality, cleanliness, and food safety standards
• Monitor labor, food costs, and minimize waste
• Assist with inventory, ordering, and cash handling
• Conduct daily shift huddles and communicate goals clearly
• Support all restaurant positions as business needs require
• Maintain a positive, respectful, and team-focused work environment
