Job summary

First Solar, Inc. seeks a supervisor to lead engineering and maintenance technicians on the module line, driving safety, quality, yield, and throughput.

The role emphasizes cost-conscious supervision and hands-on problem solving in a manufacturing setting. Candidates should have a strong background in electrical/mechanical systems, vacuum/thermal processes, and statistical methods, with leadership experience and a track record of developing direct reports.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with supervisory and technical manufacturing/maintenance experience.
• Experience in vacuum, thermal, electrical, mechanical and chemical industrial applications preferred.
• Experience in continuous improvement projects preferred.
• Strong leadership and the ability to coach and develop direct reports.
• Knowledgeable in statistical data analysis and SPC (DMAIC) is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to safety procedures and 5S housekeeping.
• Oversees shift uptime and process control in the module area.
• Supervises on-site service, troubleshooting, and repair of module equipment.
• Plans and schedules daily work assignments for engineering and maintenance staff.
• Ensures production readiness and records are maintained.
• Communicates policies and system changes to direct reports.
• Coordinates startup, shutdowns, and changeovers in the module area.
• Maintains compliance with job plans, tool PMs, and QA standards.
• Leads problem-solving actions using DMAIC and 5-Why analysis.
