Job summary

The Salvation Army in Seattle seeks a Shelter Support Staff for the King County Shelter Program. This full-time, on-site role pays $25.05/hour and requires availability for in-person interviews in Seattle, WA.

Duties include crisis response, client intake, and supervision of volunteers in a fast-paced shelter environment. Qualifications include HS Diploma or GED and at least 6 months of public contact experience; WA Driver’s License preferred.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 6 months public contact/customer service experience.
• Experience in social service shelter/residential preferred.
• WA Driver’s License preferred.

Responsibilities

• Respond to crisis and inquiry calls with support, information, and referrals.
• Assist residents to ensure a safe environment, including policy compliance.
• Conduct periodic facility inspections to identify hazards and needed repairs.
• Respond to emergencies with independent decisions within policy guidelines.
• Provide crisis intervention and institute security procedures as needed.
• Conduct client intakes and departures per department policy.
• Support volunteers and assist in training new staff and interns.
• Maintain case records and required forms in prescribed formats.
