Job summary

The Salvation Army in Seattle is hiring Shelter Support Staff to assist with client intakes, crisis response, and safe-keep operations in a busy shelter environment. This full-time, non-exempt role requires in-person work at SoDo location and interaction with diverse populations.

Responsibilities include crisis intervention, walking inspections, emergency response, and collaboration with Salvation Army programs.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED required or equivalent.
• Minimum of 6 months experience in public contact/customer service.
• Experience in social service shelter / residential preferred.
• WA Driver’s License preferred.

Responsibilities

• Respond to crisis and inquiry calls with support, information, and referrals.
• Assist residents to maintain a safe environment in line with rules.
• Conduct periodic facility inspections to identify hazards or needed repairs.
• Respond to emergencies and make decisions within policy guidelines.
• Perform client intakes and departure processes per policy.
• Provide orientation and supervision to volunteers and new staff.
