Job summary

Volunteers of America-Greater New York is seeking a Shift Supervisor to oversee front desk operations and coordinate non-clinical services for families experiencing homelessness in the Bronx. The role involves supervising staff, ensuring safety, and guiding clients through daily programs.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED with relevant experience, and a valid driver’s license. Bilingual Spanish capabilities are preferred; comprehensive benefits are provided for full-time staff.

Qualifications

• High school degree or GED preferred, with at least one year of relevant experience.
• Ability to communicate professionally (oral and written) with Spanish-speaking clients preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervise all front desk staff activities and ensure proper documentation of front desk activities.
• Monitor building safety and perform rounds to safeguard clients and property.
• Oversee client participation in daily program activities and provide excellent customer service.
• Arrange and transport clients to appointments and to assigned apartments; drive agency vehicles if assigned.
• Accept new clients in electronic records database.
• Provide emergency response including crisis management, first aid, CPR and fire response as needed.
• Complete Incident Reports as outlined by policy and funder guidelines.
• Perform related tasks as needed.
