St. Matthew’s House (Southwest Florida) seeks a Security/Front Desk support for the Ft. Myers Shelter program. Duties include monitoring the front desk, enforcing security policies, and assisting with administrative tasks while ensuring safety and confidentiality.

The role requires shift flexibility (including nights and weekends), the ability to perform bed checks and incident reporting, and collaboration with shelter staff to maintain a secure, respectful environment for residents and guests.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience: Minimum 1 year in security procedures or similar role, with homelessness/addiction exposure.
• Confidentiality: Handles highly confidential information.
• Mental/Visual Demands: Normal mental and visual capabilities required.
• Physical Demands: Stand 4+ hours, lift at least 50 pounds, bend/kneel.
• Working Conditions: Combination of office and outdoor environment.

Responsibilities

• Implement security policies, protocols and procedures.
• Work varying shifts including second/third shifts and weekends.
• Enter accurate documented information into the resident management system.
• Coordinate with staff during emergencies and alarms; report incidents and breaches.
• Investigate and resolve security issues.
• Perform regular security checks to ensure the facility is secured.
• Enforce shelter guidelines and hold residents accountable.
• Check residents' living areas for compliance with Shelter guidelines.
• Perform random bed checks during overnight shifts.
• Administer random drug screens on residents as required.
• Sort hygiene supplies and donations for storage.
• Complete discharge of residents with accurate information.
• Provide transportation for residents to appointments and events in the company vehicle.
• Screen individuals attempting to enter the shelter after hours.
• Assist intake department with various tasks as needed.
• Treat residents and guests with respect and maintain boundaries.
• Pray with residents and staff when opportunities arise.
• Complete all duties with St. Matthew’s House core values guiding principles.
