Job summary

Volunteers of America Los Angeles is seeking a Lead Monitor I to coordinate and supervise monitor staff, ensuring safety for clients, visitors and employees. The role includes safety training, ongoing oversight, and leading monitors in daily security duties within shelter and program sites.

The position requires coordinating shifts, enforcing safety standards, and may involve driving tasks if licensed. Applicants should be prepared to handle mandated reporting and on-site security

Qualifications

• Must be able to pass a fingerprint clearance and background check.
• One year in the general security field, and/or social services, and/or customer service experience.
• Current California driver’s license and clean driving record (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Assign shifts and schedule Monitors around the clock.
• Train Monitors in safety and program operations.
• Oversee safety practices and security for shelter.
• Monitor shelter entrance and screen bags and persons.
• Patrol premises to maintain security of doors, windows and gates.
• Complete written reports and incident logs of daily activities.
• Assist shelter staff and support program goals, including driving tasks if licensed.
• Act as a role model for participants and follow mandated reporting.
