Job summary

Volunteers of America Los Angeles is seeking a Lead Monitor I to organize and supervise the Monitors, provide safety training, and oversee security for the shelter’s clients, staff, and visitors. Driving ability is preferred.

The role involves assigning shifts, training staff, patrolling, screening entrants, and maintaining incident logs while modeling professionalism and care for those served. On-site work is required, with opportunities to coordinate with clinical staff as needed.

Qualifications

• Pass fingerprint clearance and background checks.
• One year of experience in security, social services, or related field.
• California driver’s license preferred and eligibility to drive VOALA vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Assign shifts and monitor staffing around the clock.
• Train monitors in safety and security procedures.
• Oversee safety practices and provide leadership.
• Monitor shelter entrance, screen bags and entrants.
• Patrol premises and report safety concerns.
• Complete written reports and incidents logs daily.
• Provide client/participant support, including driving tasks if licensed.
