Job summary

Help USA is seeking a Safety Team Leader to supervise Safety Officers at a transitional housing shelter on Wards Island, NY. You will ensure post coverage, proper uniforms, and adherence to procedures while documenting staff issues and producing incident and patrol reports.

The role requires NY security licenses, FDNY certifications within specified timelines, and at least 18 months of shelter security experience.

Qualifications

• New York State security guard license required.
• FDNY F-02 (30 days from hire) required.
• FDNY F-80 (60 days from hire) required.
• High School Diploma or equivalent or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 18 months security experience in a shelter environment.
• Capacity to work with people experiencing homelessness and mental illness or other disadvantaged people.
• Strong customer service orientation and ability to manage interpersonal relationships.
• Strong time management and organizational skills.
• Computer literacy with Microsoft applications.

Responsibilities

• Supervising Safety Officers on duty to ensure they are on post, in proper uniform, and in adherence to policies and procedures.
• Documenting individual staff issues as necessary.
• Preparing and submitting on time all necessary administrative reports including incident reports, electronic patrol reports, etc.
