Help USA is seeking a Safety Team Leader to supervise Safety Officers at a transitional housing shelter on Wards Island, NY. You will ensure post coverage, proper uniforms, and adherence to procedures while documenting staff issues and producing incident and patrol reports.
The role requires NY security licenses, FDNY certifications within specified timelines, and at least 18 months of shelter security experience.
As a Safety Team Leader, you'll help maintaina safeand secure environment atone of our transitional housing shelters that is located on Wards Island andprovidestemporary housing for men living with diagnosed mental illnesses.You'll oversee a team of Safety Officers, who are usually the first contact with our residents when they enter one of our facilities. In addition to ensuring residents' safety, our Safety Team helps our residents feel welcome and set the tone for their stay. It is critical that our Safety Team isalert, vigilant, and courteous to our residents. Responsibilities include patrolling facility grounds, ensuring residents and guests are properly signed in, escorting visitors to proper destinations, conducting unit inspections, maintaining accurate documentation and preparing incident reports when necessary.
Supervising Safety Officers on duty to ensure they are on post,in proper uniform, and in adherence to policies and procedures.
Documenting individual staff issues as necessary.
Preparing and submitting on time all necessary administrative reports including incident reports, electronic patrol reports, etc.
New York State security guard license.
FDNY F-02 (30 days from date of hire to obtain).
FDNY F-80 (60 days from date of hire to obtain).
Minimum of 18 months security experience in a shelter environment.
Capacity to work with people experiencing homelessness and mental illnessor otherdisadvantaged people.
Strong customer service orientation and ability to skillfullymanage interpersonal relationships.
Strong time management and organizational skills.
Computer literacy with Microsoft applications.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
Ability to provide night and weekend coverage as needed.
