Job summary

Samaritan Daytop Village in Jamaica, NY seeks a Shift Supervisor to oversee shelter operations, ensure safety and compliance, and coordinate daily activities for clients and staff.

You will supervise schedules, lead safety checks, manage transportation coordination, and ensure confidentiality under 42 CFR and HIPAA while maintaining a supportive, professional environment. The role requires flexibility to work Tue-Sat 4pm-12am and to obtain necessary certifications within 90 days.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• 2+ years in human services, preferably with homelessness or substance use issues.
• Must obtain FDNY F-80 within 90 days of hire; CPR and NYC Food Handler certifications as needed.
• Flexible and able to work varied shifts including evenings and weekends.
• Strong communication, teamwork and interpersonal skills; organized and reliable.
• Empathetic, discreet and professional in sensitive situations.

Responsibilities

• Supervise shelter environment to keep it safe, clean and orderly.
• Lead safety checks, fire drills and monitor kitchen when staff unavailable.
• Manage daily activity schedules and ensure client services occur as planned.
• Oversee client appointments, transport, carfare distribution and escorts.
• Administer breathalyzer tests or observe urine collection when required.
• Maintain paperwork accurately and comply with 42 CFR and HIPAA.
