Job summary

Samaritan Village, Inc. is seeking a Shift Supervisor in the Bronx to oversee daily shelter operations. You will supervise staff, manage schedules, conduct safety drills, and ensure client services run on time and safely.

Responsibilities include coordinating transportation, supervising appointments, and handling required screenings while maintaining privacy and compliance with 42 CFR and HIPAA guidelines.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• At least 2 years in human services, preferably with homelessness or substance use.
• Ability to obtain FDNY F-80 within 90 days of hire.
• Will to obtain CPR and NYC Food Handler’s certifications as needed.
• Flexible to work varied shifts, including evenings and weekends.
• Strong communication, teamwork and interpersonal skills.
• Reliable, organized and able to manage multiple tasks.
• Approaches sensitive situations with empathy and discretion.

Responsibilities

• Supervise the shelter environment to keep rules, safety and cleanliness.
• Conduct safety checks, lead fire drills and evacuations, assist kitchen when needed.
• Manage daily schedule of activities and ensure events run as planned.
• Oversee client appointments, dispatch vehicles and escorts as needed.
• Administer breathalyzer tests or observe urine collection as required.
• Maintain confidentiality and comply with 42 CFR and HIPAA.
