Job summary

St. Vincent de Paul - Dayton is seeking an experienced Shelter Supervisor to lead daily 2nd shift operations at the Apple St Shelter in Dayton, OH. You will oversee staff, ensure safe, respectful service for shelter guests, and coordinate with management on budget and program delivery.

This full-time role requires 3-5 years working with diverse populations, strong supervisory skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with HMIS data entry is a plus.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years demonstrated, successful experience working with diverse populations including low-income and homeless individuals.
• Experience with and working knowledge of domestic violence, substance abuse and mental health issues, and related community resources.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office; comfortable with spreadsheets/databases.
• Verbal and written communication skills; supervisory abilities.
• Interpersonal skills; problem/conflict resolution.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and coordinate shift operations on a daily basis.
• Direct and monitor the activities of employees under supervision on a daily basis.
• Manage staff hiring, performance and salary reviews, and termination of employment in coordination with leadership.
• Assist with opportunities for staff development, continuing education and training for employees.
• Maintain confidentiality and propriety relative to guests, donors, and staff.
• Ensure that shift staff members provide the highest level of care for shelter guests.
• Maintain knowledge of community resources available to guests.
• Provide guided tours through shelter areas as requested.
• Monitor program expenditures to stay within the approved budget.
• Interact with and engage guests utilizing the services of the St. Vincent Gateway Shelters.
• Input guest data into HMIS database as required.
• Make regular rounds of the shelter to ensure security and order.
• Provide supervision to volunteers relative to their roles.
