Job summary

The Salvation Army Midland Division Shelter in Springfield, MO is seeking a part-time Shelter Monitor (24 hours per week) to maintain Harbor House security and assist homeless clients. Starting pay is $15.00 per hour.

• Monitor clients to maintain safety and control in building and grounds.
• Enforce resident policies and procedures.
• Conduct intake interviews and explain policies and procedures to clients.
• Assign beds and provide bed linens as needed.
• Maintain Harbor House journal logs and review prior entries at shift start.
• Record attendance and roster data for house meetings.

Job description

The Salvation Army Midland Division Shelter located in Springfield, Missouri, is looking fora part-time, 24 hours per week, Shelter Monitor. The Shelter Monitor will maintain Harbor House security. Perform related duties to maintains control and assist homeless clients in the Harbor House. Starting pay is $15.00 per hour.

The Salvation Army Harbor House is located at 636 N Boonville Avenue, Springfield, Missouri.

EssentialFunctions

• Monitor clients to maintain control and assure safety of clients in building and on grounds.


• Enforce resident policies and procedures.


• Accomplish intake interviews on all clients including police clearance and explain thorough explanation of policies and procedures.


• Assign beds for lodging and give out bed linens as needed.


• Make Harbor House journal log entries of incidents during the shift and read the previous entries at the beginning of the shift.


• Record statistics of attendance at house meetings and maintain client roster list.

Education and Experience

• High school or equivalent diploma with one year of experience working in social service agency or two years work experience without a diploma.


• Higher education in psychology, social work, criminal justice, or another related field is a plus.


• Must possess Infant/Child/Adult CPR/First Aid certification or be able to acquire certification within the first ninety (90) day probationary period.


• Must be a team player, a self-starter, and perform well with minimum supervision.


• Effective communication skills are essential, as well as an ability to work with diverse cultures.


• Computer skills are desirable.
