Job summary

Community Outreach Inc. in Oregon is seeking a Social Services Assistant to supervise transitional housing shelter clients, enforce COI rules, and provide supportive services. The role includes making referrals and coordinating with community partners to ensure clients receive needed resources.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Commitment to COI’s mission and client advocacy.
• Detail oriented with strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Computer proficiency.
• Excellent dependability, collaboration, interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to lift or maneuver 40 lbs., as well as stand, kneel, stoop, bend and sit.
• Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without accommodations.

Responsibilities

• Respond to requests and needs for food boxes, housing screenings, messages, mail and other services.
• Supervise the use of shelter facilities, including inventory control and housekeeping responsibilities.
• Interact with clients in a friendly and professional manner, maintaining dignity and respect.
• Ensure residents complete daily routines and comply with agency rules.
• Answer inquiries, route messages and perform administrative duties.
• Conduct client urinalysis and breathalyzer readings as required.
• Provide crisis intervention and liaison with emergency services as needed.
• Document information to client files, progress notes, and reports.
• Provide case managers and therapists with relevant client information.
• Maintain a safe and secure facility and report maintenance issues promptly.
• Attend shelter events and perform other duties as required.
