Job summary

Just Compassion of East Washington County in Gresham, OR, is seeking a Shelter Support for its 50‑unit family shelter. You will assist with meal prep, guest support, and facility upkeep, collaborating with case management and youth services to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment.

Ideal candidates have 1+ year in human services or shelter settings, strong interpersonal and communication skills, basic cooking and cleaning abilities, and a commitment to trauma‑informed care and harm

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1+ year of experience in human services, hospitality, or shelter environments.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with diverse populations.
• Basic cooking, cleaning, and facility maintenance skills.
• Ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
• Commitment to trauma-informed care and Just Compassion’s mission.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct assistance to families staying in the shelter with empathy and professionalism.
• Assist with meal preparation and kitchen upkeep.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of common areas and storage.
• Coordinate with case management and youth services teams.
• Document logs, meal counts, and inventory as required.
• Report maintenance or safety concerns promptly.
