One80 Place seeks a part-time Shelter Assistant to support clients in its shelters. The role focuses on creating a safe, trauma-informed environment and helping individuals move toward permanent housing.

Shifts include weekend blocks and various day/evening hours. Candidates should have a high school diploma and at least two years of experience with homelessness. Strong communication and teamwork are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to handle conflict and crisis calmly to achieve positive resolutions.
• Experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness or similar population is preferred.
• Willingness to rotate shifts including overnights, days, evenings, holidays and weekends.
• Reliable transportation to multiple shelter locations.

Responsibilities

• Provide intake and acuity confirmation for clients in shelter programs.
• Maintain thorough documentation of client conversations, goals and incidents.
• Collect data for funding and HMIS bed assignments and shelter exits.
• Report hazards, maintenance needs, and operational issues to the supervisor.
• Engage clients in case management activities and housing goal planning.
