Steadfast Employment in Houma, LA seeks compassionate Shelter Assistants to help survivors of domestic violence and related crimes. You will welcome residents, respond to crisis calls, and assist with daily shelter operations to create a safe, trauma-informed environment.

This role involves coordinating with residents on basic needs, maintaining a clean, organized space, and supporting crisis intervention and safety planning.

Responsabilidades

• Welcome and orient new residents entering the shelter
• Provide emotional support and crisis intervention when needed
• Assist residents with immediate needs and access to shelter resources
• Answer crisis hotline calls and provide information, referrals, and safety planning
• Support residents with daily living needs, including access to food, personal care items, and communication resources
• Perform routine cleaning and housekeeping duties
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized shelter environment
• Conduct shelter safety checks and assist with facility upkeep
• Help foster a respectful, trauma-informed atmosphere for all residents
