Job summary

The Salvation Army North and Central Illinois Division in Peoria seeks a Shelter Aide to provide direct support and supervision for clients in a residential setting, maintaining a safe, welcoming environment. You will assist with intake, eligibility assessments, program orientations, and documentation in HMIS and other records, while enforcing policies and coordinating crisis response.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent; Associate's degree preferred.
• Experience in shelter/residential or related human services environment.
• Knowledge of trauma-informed care, de-escalation, crisis response procedures.
• Experience with documenting client data and maintaining confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Provide a safe, secure environment for clients and deescalate conflicts as needed.
• Conduct client intake and eligibility assessments; assist with program orientation.
• Record data into the HMIS system and maintain daily logs.
• Prepare and serve meals; ensure facility cleanliness and safety.
• Monitor facility perimeter and respond to emergencies or staff shortages.
• Attend staff meetings and participate in crisis response planning.
