Job summary

The Salvation Army USA Central Territory is seeking a Shelter Aide to support overnight clients in residence. You will help with daily needs, meals, and ensuring a clean, orderly shelter environment while upholding shelter policies and procedures.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, and a commitment to ethics and professional boundaries. Experience with community services and driving may be beneficial for transporting clients when needed.

Responsibilities

• Assist shelter clients with their daily needs while they are in residence in the shelter.

Position Summary

The Shelter Aide ensures overnight clients receive quality services by providing assistance while they are in residence at The Salvation Army program.

• Assist shelter clients with their daily needs while they are in residence in the shelter
• Assist with meal and snack preparation, serving, and clean‑up
• Assure the shelter area is kept clean and orderly
• Assure residents follow shelter policies and procedures
• Transport or arrange for transportation of clients needing medical care
• Facilitate referrals to area social service agencies to move client toward discharge from the shelter
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education / Experience

• High School diploma / GED, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities

Certificates & Licenses

• Must have and maintain a current valid driver's license and pass the Salvation Army Motor Vehicle Record (MVR)
• Complete Safe From Harm training, and keep current as needed
