Job summary

Milestone Recovery is seeking a Shelter Attendant to provide compassionate care to clients entering the shelter. The role involves ensuring safety and well-being during overnight coverage and per diem scheduling.

The position requires a High School diploma or GED, with preferred experience in human services and working with homeless or substance use disorder populations. The job includes maintaining records, coordinating referrals, and upholding confidentiality.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Learn the organizational structure of Milestone Recovery.
• Follow and enforce all policies and procedures.
• Refer clients to vocational, educational, social, occupational, and recreational resources.
• Develop plans of care with clients.
• Support client meals, showering and laundry during shifts.
• Complete and maintain confidential records and reports.
• Arrange transportation to community providers when needed.
• Respect client confidentiality at all times.
• Attend trainings and scheduled staff meetings.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Our Mission is to provide compassionate care and services to empower individuals experiencing substance use disorders, mental illnesses, and homelessness to attain an enhanced quality of life regardless of ability to pay.

Compensation: Compensation for this position is $20.00 per hour

Differentials: There is an additional weekend shift differential of $2.50/hr for any hours on Saturday and Sunday and an overnight differential of $2.50/hr for third shift hours.

Schedule: Per Diem as needed for overnight coverage

Position Profile: The Shelter Attendant is responsible for the care and well-being of clients who enter the shelter.

Qualifications: A minimum of a High School diploma or GED required. Prior experience related to the human services field is highly preferred. Prior experience with homeless and substance use disorder population is a plus.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

• Willingness to learn the organizational structure of Milestone Recovery
• Follow and fully understand all policies and procedures
• Make appropriate referrals to other agencies and resources, including vocational, educational, social, occupational, and recreational
• Involved with the process to develop an appropriate plan of care with clients
• Responsible for various levels of care for the client caseload during each shift; meals, showering, laundry
• Complete and maintain necessary records and reports in an accurate and confidential practice
• Arrange transportation to other community providers when necessary
• Respect patient confidentiality at all times
• Attend essential training programs and scheduled staff meetings
• Perform other related duties as assigned

Physical demands and work environment: Individuals should be able to sit or stand for extended periods of time and be able to assist clients with getting in and out of bed, walking and showering as needed.
