Job summary

Milestone Recovery, located in Portland, ME, is seeking a Detox Attendant to assist the Detox staff in implementing patient health care and supporting the Medically Monitored Withdrawal Unit. The role will also be cross-trained in our 28-day Residential Program.

You will observe patient health, document findings, and help maintain the Detox unit daily schedule and sanitation while working as a team. A HS diploma or GED is required, with one year of related substance use/mental illness experience

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• One year of experience related to chronic substance use and mental illness is highly desired.

Position Profile:

The Detox Attendant is responsible for assisting the Detox staff in the implementation of the patients’ health care and supporting the function of the Medically Monitored Withdrawal Unit. This role will also be cross-trained in our 28-day Residential Program.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

• Assist the nursing staff in implementation of an appropriate health treatment plan with each patient (under supervision of the staff nurse and program manager).
• Observe the overall health of all patients and report adverse findings promptly to the staff nurse.
• Support the function of the Detoxification Unit assisting and maintaining with the Detox daily schedule, sanitation, inter-departmental collaboration to support client and staffing needs.
• May be responsible for cleaning up bodily fluids.
• Help in maintaining necessary records & reports in an accurate & confidential manner.
• Be willing and able to work as a team member.
• May have the option to pick up shifts in Residential Program.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Compensation:

Compensation for this position is $20.00 per hour + applicable shift differentials ($2.50 per hour weekend; $2.50 per hour overnight; $5.00 per hour weekend overnight)

Physical demands and work environment

Freedom of movement on a regular basis. Operating basic office equipment in a normal office environment. Ability to lift up to 50lbs. May spend extended periods operating a desktop computer, requiring hand-eye coordination and finger dexterity; physical activity requires walking, bending, standing and lifting.
