Job summary

Balfour Beatty US is hiring a Safety Health & Environmental Coordinator for our Stafford, VA project. You will support loss prevention, liaise with the SH&E Director, and ensure safety procedures are followed on site.

The role involves documenting programs, coordinating inspections, and enabling safe operations for construction activities. The ideal candidate has OSHA 30, 2–4 years of construction safety experience, and proven record-keeping skills.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Safety & Environmental Health or related field preferred and 2 to 4 years of safety experience.
• OSHA 30 required.
• Demonstrates accurate record keeping skills.
• 1 year of direct or indirect supervisor experience.
• Proficiency with PC and company communication tools (email, internet, Microsoft Office).

Responsibilities

• Organizes and administers Loss Prevention records and reports.
• Trains employees about company safety policies and hazards on the project.
• Requisitions safety, first aid and fire prevention equipment and ensure it stays in good condition.
• Makes daily inspections of the job site, shops and material stockyards.
• Reports unsafe acts or conditions to the Superintendent or Project Manager and follows up to confirm corrective actions.
• Coordinates all Loss Prevention efforts on the project with the Project Manager and Superintendent.
• Prepares minutes of and participates in weekly safety meetings with supervisors.
• Participates in toolbox meetings and maintains attendance records.
• Assists in investigating accidents and near-misses and with prevention recommendations.
• Participates in inspections by federal/state/local inspectors and ensures violations are corrected.
