Job summary

Balfour Beatty US is seeking a Safety Health & Environment Coordinator to join our Chantilly, VA project team. This role serves as the primary loss prevention support and acts as a liaison between the jobsite and the SH&E Director, ensuring all safety procedures are followed and required documentation is maintained.

The position requires a B.S. in Safety & Environmental Health or related field, OSHA 30, and 2–4 years of safety experience in construction.

Qualifications

• OSHA 30 certification required.
• 2 to 4 years of safety experience in construction preferred.
• Strong record-keeping skills and attention to detail.
• Proficient with PC and Microsoft Office tools.

Responsibilities

• Organizes and maintains Loss Prevention records and reports.
• Trains employees on safety policies and hazards on the project.
• Requisitions safety, first aid and fire equipment and maintains it in good condition.
• Makes daily inspections of the job site, shops and material stockyards.
• Reports unsafe acts or conditions to the Superintendent or Project Manager and follows up to ensure corrections.
• Coordinates Loss Prevention efforts with the Project Manager and Superintendent.
• Prepares minutes of and participates in weekly safety meetings with supervisors.
• Records toolbox talks and maintains attendance sheets.
• Assists in investigating accidents, fires and near-misses and with prevention recommendations.
• Participates in inspections by Federal, State or local inspectors and ensures violations are corrected.
