Job summary

The City of Wichita seeks an Equipment Operator 1 in Sewer Maintenance to operate trucks and powered equipment with care, perform routine maintenance, and assist in sewer line work. You will contribute to safe, reliable infrastructure and work outdoors across weather conditions.

The role requires possession of a Kansas CDL Class B with air brake and tanker endorsements and the ability to obtain a State Pesticide Applicator certification.

Qualifications

• Six months of experience in the operation of motor vehicles.
• Ability to acquire and maintain a Kansas class B CDL with air brake and tanker endorsements within six months.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
• Ability to acquire pesticide applicator certification within one year of employment.

Responsibilities

• Operates a truck and assists in loading and unloading materials.
• Maintains and operates equipment used to flush, rod and/or clean sanitary sewer lines.
• Locates and uncovers buried manholes.
• Assists in snow removal operations.
• Digs ditches and performs laboring work as assigned.
