Job summary

City of Wichita is seeking a skilled heavy equipment operator to maintain assets for the Flood Control Project and Stormwater Management System. The role includes operating large machinery, performing maintenance, and supervising staff as needed.

The position requires working outdoors in diverse weather, weekend/overtime possibilities, and a valid CDL with tanker endorsement. Job features a standard Mon–Fri schedule with potential shift variations.

Qualifications

• One and a half (1.5) years of experience operating heavy/specialized equipment used in cleaning, construction, and maintenance.
• Valid Class B CDL with airbrake endorsement; Canadian/Mexican citizenship may require local CDL.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment to perform maintenance and construction tasks (e.g., street sweepers, bulldozers, backhoes, etc.).
• Supervise staff and assist supervisors in daily assignments and paperwork.
