Job summary

The City of Wichita is seeking an Equipment Operator 1 in Sewer Maintenance to operate trucks and power equipment, perform basic servicing, and support sewer line flushing and cleaning. You will work outdoors in varied weather, require safety awareness, and contribute to public infrastructure maintenance.

Applicants should be able to lift heavy objects, work after hours, and hold Kansas CDL Class B with air brake/tanker endorsements.

Qualifications

• State of Kansas Commercial Pesticide Applicator certification in General Knowledge Category 9A Noxious Weeds or Category 5S Sewer Root Control.
• Valid Kansas Class B CDL with air brake and tanker endorsements. Canadians/Mexicans must have or obtain CDL from home country.

Responsibilities

• Operate a truck and assist in loading/unloading materials.
• Perform minor equipment servicing: refueling, lubricating, washing, adjusting.
• Maintain and set up equipment used to flush/clean sanitary sewer lines.
• Locate buried manholes and assist in snow removal operations.
• May back up other Equipment Operators and assist higher-level staff.
