Job summary

The City of Alexandria’s Transportation & Environmental Services department seeks a Sanitary Infrastructure Division Chief to lead planning, management, and improvement of the sanitary sewer system and related programs.

You will supervise engineers, oversee the Sanitary Sewer CIP and operating budget, ensure regulatory compliance, and coordinate with city departments, regulators, and community stakeholders to deliver projects on time and within budget.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering and PE license in Virginia.
• Eight years of progressive engineering experience including project management and public-sector work; three years supervisory.
• Ten years of sanitary sewer experience and five years of leadership in PM/organization.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership for sanitary sewer programs and initiatives.
• Develop and manage the Sanitary Sewer CIP and operating budget.
• Oversee contract administration and ensure alignment with program objectives.
• Coordinate with Project Implementation, stakeholders, and regulatory agencies.
• Ensure regulatory compliance and reporting to the VDEQ.
• Guide development of the Sanitary Sewer Master Plan and backflow/CMOM programs.
• Represent the City in meetings with residents, businesses, and partners.
