Job summary

Alexandria seeks a Professional Engineer to supervise and advance the city’s civil infrastructure programs. You will plan, design, review plans, and oversee construction and maintenance of transportation and drainage systems, reporting to the City Engineer.

Responsibilities include managing staff, budgeting, and coordinating with consultants and contractors, while ensuring compliance with regulations and timely project delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil/Mechanical/Structural Engineering and 3 years of PE experience.
• Louisiana PE license or eligible; ability to obtain within state requirements.

Responsibilities

• Supervise Engineering Department staff and evaluate performance.
• Coordinate daily work activities, assign tasks, and monitor progress.
• Assist in capital budget preparation and project prioritization.
• Manage capital projects during design and construction phases.
• Prepare bid documents, review contractor progress, and process change orders.
• Ensure regulatory compliance and coordinate permits with agencies.
