Job summary

New River Systems is seeking a ServiceNow Developer to design, build, test, and maintain ServiceNow applications, modules, and integrations, and to administer ServiceNow instances across the development lifecycle in support of Defense and Intelligence Community customers.

At Level 2, the Developer independently delivers end-to-end work products, develops new concepts and processes, analyzes root causes, and may lead a task, project, or team.

Qualifications

New River Systems is seeking a ServiceNow Developer to design, build, test, and maintain ServiceNow applications, modules, and integrations, and to administer ServiceNow instances across the development lifecycle in support of Defense and Intelligence Community customers. Developers work within Agile delivery teams alongside Business Analysts, Business Process Consultants, Test Engineers, and Subject Matter Experts, and follow upgrade-safe, configuration-first practices that minimize technical debt and support long-term platform health.

At Level 2, the Developer independently delivers end-to-end work products, develops new concepts and processes, analyzes root causes, and may lead a task, project, or team. Guidance is needed only in new or uncertain situations. Readiness is demonstrated by delivery breadth across multiple functional areas and the ability to resolve cross-functional issues.

What We're Looking For

• Demonstrated delivery breadth across multiple ServiceNow functional areas (e.g., ITSM plus HRSD, ITAM, or integration work)
• Independently delivers end-to-end work products from story to production
• Independently resolves cross-functional issues; trusted by peers as a go-to for troubleshooting

• Mentors Level 1 Developers; contributes to team standards and documentation

Career Pathway

Job Duties:

• Has professional experience supporting ServiceNow configuration and development, requirements analysis, process execution and evaluation, and integration with other applications
• Interacts with customers and development team to gather and define requirements
• Analyzes and studies customer requirements to determine the most effective use of ServiceNow to satisfy their needs
• Designs, creates, tests, and maintains ServiceNow suites and modules to satisfy customer requirements
• Follows a formal design process using formal specifications, data flow diagrams, and other accepted design techniques; adheres to laws, standards, and established guidelines for development and delivery of ServiceNow capabilities
• Develops software using common commercially accepted programming languages (HTML/CSS, JavaScript, etc.) and data models (XML, JSON, CSV, etc.) as required
• Has administered ServiceNow instances including user creation, interfaces to AD, group creation and maintenance, group permissions, access control lists, global platform settings, notifications, and resource usage
• Configures ServiceNow to provide visually pleasing, content-rich, user-friendly interfaces with intuitive navigation
• Assists with developing and maintaining technical documentation to support maintenance and upgrades
• Provides software process management and configuration management throughout the ServiceNow development lifecycle
• Performs custom development and 3rd-party integrations as required
• Applies concepts, develops, tests, maintains, and supports effective ServiceNow configurations
• Troubleshoots problems and provides solutions to overcome them
• Works with management and peers to determine specifications

• Platform Configuration & Customization: Forms, lists, views, UI policies, UI actions, business rules, client scripts, and script includes; knowing when to configure vs. customize; upgrade-safe development
• Scripting & Development: Server-side (GlideRecord, GlideSystem, Script Includes, Scheduled Jobs) and client-side (g_form, g_list, GlideAjax) scripting; JavaScript; HTML/CSS for portal and UI work
• Service Portal & UI Builder: Service Portal widgets (AngularJS); catalog items and record producers; UI Builder for modern interfaces
• Workflow & Automation: Flow Designer flows, subflows, and actions; legacy workflow; Scheduled Jobs; Event Management; notifications and escalations
• Integration: REST/SOAP API development and consumption; Integration Hub spokes; MID Server configuration; Import Sets and Transform Maps; third-party integration patterns
• Instance Administration: Update set management and deployment; user/group administration; ACL design; performance monitoring; upgrade planning and execution
• SDLC & DevOps: Version control; CI/CD integration; DevSecOps and security-in-the-pipeline; code review; development standards; Agile sprint participation and estimation

Required Qualifications:

• Has AngularJS and Service Portal experience
• Has administered ServiceNow instances including performance, optimization, and platform policy and governance
• Has implemented at least two ServiceNow modules and has a minimum of two years of experience with ServiceNow (contract floor)

• DoD 8570/8140 compliance (e.g., Security+) as required by task order

Salary Range: $140-160,000. The final offered salary will be based on several factors, including but not limited to the candidate’s depth of experience, skill set, qualifications, and internal pay equity. Hiring at the top end of the range would not be typical, to allow for future meaningful salary growth in this position
