Job summary

The Larson Group Peterbilt is seeking an experienced Service Writer to greet and consult service customers about their problems and assist in coordinating the service department, including warranty processes.

The role involves open/close of work orders, time reporting, scheduling, and supporting technicians and parts staff, with opportunities for career development in a safety-conscious shop environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• A college degree or trade school certificate preferred but not required.
• Experience in dealership service shop environment preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Open and close work orders with as much information as possible.
• Record, adjust and report mechanics' time for work orders and payroll.
• Help cover phone calls for the Service Department.
• Try to resolve customer complaints.
• Schedule appointments.
• Supervise and assist technicians with diagnosis and repairs.
• Assist with warranty repair paper flow.
• Check in new trucks delivered to the shop and complete the proper forms.
• Consult with the parts department on special order parts and sublet repairs.
• Instruct the next shift's service writer on special instructions and appointments.
• Keep Service Manager informed of all customer complaints and technician problems.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
