The Shop Technician is responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing forklifts and other material handling equipment.

Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair all makes of lift trucks and components.
- Perform all assigned Planned Maintenance (PM) on customer and internal lift trucks.
- Perform proper PM’s and engine tune-ups on most makes of equipment without supervision in a timely manner.
- Assist with training/mentoring apprentice mechanics through on-the-job training.
- Follow all safety procedures and company policies.
- Identify and work with the parts department to order necessary replacement parts.
- Test lift equipment to ensure repairs were successful.
- Ensure batteries for electric forklift trucks are fully charged.
- Inspect lift equipment to ensure proper and safe operation.
- Use TW Mobile application to process service calls accurately and timely.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities
- Excellent mechanical repair skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to visually diagnose mechanical issues.
- Proficient with diagnostic equipment and software.
- Ability to read service and repair manuals.
- Timely repair skills.
- Ability to read work orders and electrical/hydraulic schematics.
- Capability to repair or replace major system components with limited supervision.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Work efficiently under pressure and multitask independently.
- Customer service skills.
- Proper use and maintenance of trade tools.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 3-5 years of mechanical experience in lift truck repair or related fields, or related trade school education.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to operate lift trucks safely.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to talk, hear, stand, walk, use hands, and reach.
- Work safely in noisy, odorous environments.
- Lift 50 pounds regularly and up to 100 pounds occasionally.
- Inspect equipment and perform repairs requiring bending, stretching, kneeling, and squatting.
- Access all parts of the forklift for repairs or maintenance.
