Job summary

Birge & Held is seeking a Service Technician I to support daily maintenance at an apartment community. You will inspect, repair, and maintain HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems, and ensure timely work orders and turnovers. The role reports to the Operations Manager and requires teamwork with residents and vendors.

Strong attention to detail, multi-tasking, and problem-solving are essential, with on-call responsibilities and safety compliance as ongoing duties.

Qualifications

• Formal technical training or equivalent experience in HVAC and related systems.
• EPA refrigerant handling certification preferred or willingness to obtain.
• HVAC certification preferred; ability to perform basic repairs.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for property travel.

Responsibilities

• Support daily maintenance to ensure resident satisfaction and property functionality.
• Inspect buildings, perform basic HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and structural maintenance.
• Complete work orders within 48 hours; ensure unit turnovers within 5 working days.
• Provide on-site maintenance, communicate with operations team, and assist in on-call rotation.
• Maintain grounds safety and assist with seasonal tasks as needed.
