Job summary

Birge & Held in Fort Wayne, IN is seeking a Service Technician I to support daily maintenance operations across apartment communities. You will help ensure resident satisfaction, property functionality, and compliance with company standards, reporting to the Operations Manager.

Responsibilities include inspecting facilities, performing HVAC/electrical/plumbing repairs, completing work orders promptly, and coordinating with the team to prioritize tasks and keep units turnover-ready.

Qualifications

• Formal technical training or equivalent experience in HVAC and maintenance.
• EPA refrigerant handling certification preferred or willing to obtain.
• HVAC certification preferred.
• Travel between properties requires valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Experience in residential property maintenance is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Inspect buildings and common areas to assess cleanliness, safety, and property condition.
• Perform basic repairs and maintenance of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and structural systems.
• Complete work orders within 48 hours unless emergency requires immediate action.
• Ensure unit turnovers are completed within five working days as directed.
• Provide daily progress updates and coordinate tasks with the operations team.
