Job summary

Mesa Energy Systems, Inc. is seeking an experienced HVAC technician to install, service, and maintain commercial systems at our Santa Barbara location.

You will perform startup, testing, and commissioning on rooftop units, air handlers, VAVs, and related equipment, ensuring quality workmanship and safety. You must have a Universal CFC certification and the ability to work with cutting torches, welding equipment, and testing devices.

Qualifications

• 5 years of experience maintaining similar type and size commercial equipment with a current Universal CFC certification.
• Experience with ladders, roofs, and attics.
• Operate cutting torches or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts.
• Understanding of basic electrical circuits, disconnects, electric valves, and low/high voltage wiring.
• Strong oral and written communication.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Install new HVAC units, brazing, line sets, trimming refrigerant and charging.
• Install piping systems including drains, water lines, gas lines and actuators.
• Install coils, compressors, condensers, fans, motors, and related equipment.
• Perform start up, testing and commissioning on RTUs, AHUs, VAVs, and FCUs.

About Us

We are a full-service HVAC, building automation, chiller, and retrofit contractor with a reputation for combining high-quality consulting services with customized energy solutions. Our integrated, single-source solutions include turnkey in-house capabilities with design assistance, as well as engineering applications and automated control systems.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Install new HVAC units, brazing, line sets, trimming refrigerant and adding charge.

• Install piping systems to include but not limited to drain piping, p-traps, water lines, gas lines valves and actuators

• Install coils, compressors, condensers, fans, motors, combustion equipment, and industrial air compressors.

• Perform start up, testing and commissioning on RTU’s, Air Handlers, VAV’s, Fan Coil units, swamp coolers and other Commercial HVAC Equipment

• Test lines, components, and connections for leaks, brazing and soldering parts as necessary to repair defective joints.

• Perform preventative maintenance on the equipment such as vacuuming, cleaning, changing filters, and oiling parts.

Qualifications

• 5 years of experience in maintaining similar type and size commercial equipment, along with a current Universal CFC certification

• Experience with ladders, roofs, and attics.

• Operate cutting torches or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts.

• Understanding of basic electrical circuits, disconnects, electric valves, low and high voltage wiring.

• Strong oral and written communication required.

• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and perform duties with minimal supervision in isolated areas.

• Knowledge and experience in the proper use and safe operation of hand tools, equipment, and testing devices necessary to perform all work assignments.

• Valid Driver’s license and able to maintain a good driving record.

• Ability to stand, sit or squat for extended periods of time.

• Ability to lift, move and carry material up to 50 lbs.

• Ability to climb stairs, ladders, and work at extended heights.

• Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). i.e., but not limited to, Dust mask, gloves, eye protection and hearing protection.

Geographic Disclosure

Compensation Range:

$40 - $60 Per Hour The hourly rate is determined by the CBA/rate sheet and test results.

Benefits are provided through local labor union aligned with collective bargaining agreement.
