Job summary

EMCOR Services Mesa Energy in California is seeking an experienced HVAC technician to install, service, and commission commercial systems. You will work on RTUs, air handlers, VAVs, humidifiers, and related equipment, performing startup, testing, and preventive maintenance.

The ideal candidate has at least 5 years of experience with commercial equipment, a Universal CFC certification, a valid driver's license, ability to lift up to 50 lbs, and comfortable working at heights and on roofs.

Qualifications

• 5 years of experience maintaining similar commercial HVAC equipment.
• Current Universal CFC certification.
• Experience with ladders, roofs, and attics.
• Knowledge of basic electrical circuits and low/high voltage wiring.
• Ability to operate cutting torches or welding equipment.
• Strong oral and written communication; ability to follow instructions.

Responsibilities

• Install new HVAC units and associated piping and components.
• Perform start up, testing and commissioning on RTUs, AHUs, VAVs, FCUs.
• Perform preventative maintenance including cleaning, filter changes and oiling parts.
• Test lines, components for leaks and repair defective joints.
• Follow safety procedures and wear PPE; maintain clean work area.
• Collaborate with team to complete projects on time.

Job description

We are a full-service HVAC, building automation, chiller, and retrofit contractor with a reputation for combining high-quality consulting services with customized energy solutions. Our integrated, single-source solutions include turnkey in-house capabilities with design assistance, as well as engineering applications and automated control systems.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Install new HVAC units, brazing, line sets, trimming refrigerant and adding charge.
• Install piping systems to include but not limited to drain piping, p-traps, water lines, gas lines valves and actuators.
• Install coils, compressors, condensers, fans, motors, combustion equipment, and industrial air compressors.
• Perform start up, testing and commissioning on RTU’s, Air Handlers, VAV’s, Fan Coil units, swamp coolers and other Commercial HVAC Equipment.
• Test lines, components, and connections for leaks, brazing and soldering parts as necessary to repair defective joints.
• Perform preventative maintenance on the equipment such as vacuuming, cleaning, changing filters, and oiling parts.

Qualifications

• 5 years of experience in maintaining similar type and size commercial equipment, along with a current Universal CFC certification.
• Experience with ladders, roofs, and attics.
• Operate cutting torches or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts.
• Understanding of basic electrical circuits, disconnects, electric valves, low and high voltage wiring.
• Strong oral and written communication required.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and perform duties with minimal supervision in isolated areas.
• Knowledge and experience in the proper use and safe operation of hand tools, equipment, and testing devices necessary to perform all work assignments.
• Valid Driver’s license and able to maintain a good driving record.
• Ability to stand, sit or squat for extended periods of time.
• Ability to lift, move and carry material up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to climb stairs, ladders, and work at extended heights.
• Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as dust mask, gloves, eye protection and hearing protection.

Compensation Range

$40 - $60 Per Hour. The hourly rate is determined by the CBA/rate sheet and test results.
