Job summary

EMCOR Group, Inc. in California is seeking an experienced HVAC technician to install, service, and commission commercial systems.

You will work on RTUs, air handlers, VAVs, and related equipment, using cutting torches, welding, and electrical knowledge to ensure safe, efficient operation. The role demands strong communication, the ability to follow instructions with minimal supervision, and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• 5 years of experience maintaining similar type and size commercial equipment with Universal CFC certification.
• Experience with ladders, roofs, and attics.
• Operate cutting torches or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts.
• Understanding of basic electrical circuits, disconnects, electric valves, low and high voltage wiring.
• Strong oral and written communication.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and perform duties with minimal supervision.
• Knowledge and experience in the proper use and safe operation of hand tools, equipment, and testing devices.
• Valid Driver's license and ability to maintain a good driving record.
• Ability to stand, sit or squat for extended periods of time.
• Ability to lift, move and carry material up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to climb stairs, ladders, and work at extended heights.
• Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Responsibilities

• Install new HVAC units, brazing, line sets, trimming refrigerant and charging.
• Install piping systems including drains, traps, water lines, gas lines valves and actuators.
• Install coils, compressors, condensers, fans, motors, and related equipment.
• Perform start up, testing and commissioning on RTUs, Air Handlers, VAVs, Fan Coil units, swamp coolers, and other commercial HVAC equipment.
• Test lines, components, and connections for leaks and repair defective joints.
• Perform preventative maintenance on equipment (vacuuming, cleaning, filters, oiling).

Skills

Strong oral and written communication

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Install new HVAC units, brazing, line sets, trimming refrigerant and adding charge.
• Install piping systems to include but not limited to drain piping, p-traps, water lines, gas lines valves and actuators
• Install coils, compressors, condensers, fans, motors, combustion equipment, and industrial air compressors.
• Perform start up, testing and commissioning on RTU's, Air Handlers, VAV's, Fan Coil units, swamp coolers and other Commercial HVAC Equipment
• Test lines, components, and connections for leaks, brazing and soldering parts as necessary to repair defective joints.
• Perform preventative maintenance on the equipment such as vacuuming, cleaning, changing filters, and oiling parts.

Geographic Disclosure

Compensation Range: $40 - $60 Per Hour The hourly rate is determined by the CBA/rate sheet and test results.
