Job summary

Mesa Energy Systems, Inc. in Santa Barbara, CA is hiring an experienced HVAC technician responsible for installing, commissioning, and maintaining commercial systems.

You will work on rooftop units, air handlers, and related equipment, ensuring safety and reliability on site. Applicants should have at least five years of field experience and a Universal CFC certification, with strong communication and the ability to work with limited supervision in various site conditions.

Qualifications

• 5 years of experience maintaining similar equipment with a Universal CFC certification.
• Experience with ladders, roofs, and attics.
• Operate cutting torches or welding equipment.
• Understanding of basic electrical circuits and wiring (low/high voltage).
• Strong oral and written communication.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work at heights.

Responsibilities

• Install new HVAC units, brazing, line sets, trimming refrigerant and charging.
• Install piping including drains, p-traps, water lines, gas lines, valves and actuators.
• Install coils, compressors, condensers, fans, motors and related equipment.
• Perform start up, testing and commissioning on RTUs, AHUs, VAVs and similar units.
• Test lines and components for leaks and repair defective joints.
• Perform preventative maintenance on equipment.

About Us

We are a full-service HVAC, building automation, chiller, and retrofit contractor with a reputation for combining high-quality consulting services with customized energy solutions. Our integrated, single-source solutions include turnkey in-house capabilities with design assistance, as well as engineering applications and automated control systems.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Install new HVAC units, brazing, line sets, trimming refrigerant and adding charge.
• Install piping systems to include but not limited to drain piping, p-traps, water lines, gas lines valves and actuators
• Install coils, compressors, condensers, fans, motors, combustion equipment, and industrial air compressors.
• Perform start up, testing and commissioning on RTU’s, Air Handlers, VAV’s, Fan Coil units, swamp coolers and other Commercial HVAC Equipment
• Test lines, components, and connections for leaks, brazing and soldering parts as necessary to repair defective joints.
• Perform preventative maintenance on the equipment such as vacuuming, cleaning, changing filters, and oiling parts.

Qualifications

• 5 years of experience in maintaining similar type and size commercial equipment, along with a current Universal CFC certification
• Experience with ladders, roofs, and attics.
• Operate cutting torches or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts.
• Understanding of basic electrical circuits, disconnects, electric valves, low and high voltage wiring.
• Strong oral and written communication required.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and perform duties with minimal supervision in isolated areas.
• Knowledge and experience in the proper use and safe operation of hand tools, equipment, and testing devices necessary to perform all work assignments.
• Valid Driver’s license and able to maintain a good driving record.
• Ability to stand, sit or squat for extended periods of time.
• Ability to lift, move and carry material up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to climb stairs, ladders, and work at extended heights.
• Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). i.e., but not limited to, Dust mask, gloves, eye protection and hearing protection.

Geographic Disclosure

Compensation Range: $40 - $60 Per Hour The hourly rate is determined by the CBA/rate sheet and test results.
