Job summary

Intelligent Living Solutions is seeking a Service Technician to install, troubleshoot, and repair smart home automation, AV, access control, and security systems for ongoing residential and commercial clients. The role is full-time, hourly, non-exempt, with potential overtime and some evening/weekend on-call availability.

Responsibilities include on-site service calls, diagnostics, and supporting new installation projects.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years hands-on experience installing and/or servicing security systems (Alarm.com, DSC, Qolsys, etc).
• Comfortable using hand and power tools, testing equipment, and low-voltage wiring practices.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a client-first mindset.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in documentation and work quality.
• Must pass a drug/alcohol screening and a criminal background check.

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair system malfunctions during service and warranty calls.
• Perform routine system checkups and preventative maintenance for existing clients.

• Maintain documentation of service calls, parts used, and work performed.
• Identify recurring issues and report trends to Operations.

We are seeking a skilled and client-focused Service Technician to install, troubleshoot, and repair smart home automation, AV, access control, and security systems for our existing clients.

This role is primarily responsible for performing on-site service calls, warranty repairs, and system diagnostics, ensuring our clients receive timely, accurate, and professional service. The Service Technician will also assist with new installation projects when scheduling allows, supporting the broader Operations team as needed.

This is a full-time, hourly, non-exempt position with occasional overtime. Most work is performed Monday through Friday, with the potential for some evening and weekend work, including occasional on-call availability for urgent service needs.

What You’ll Do

• Install, program, and configure smart home automation, AV, access control, and security systems according to project and manufacturer specifications
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair system malfunctions during service and warranty calls
• Perform routine system checkups and preventative maintenance for existing clients
• Communicate directly with clients on-site to explain work performed, demonstrate system functionality, and
  address questions
• Coordinate with the Director of Operations to confirm job details, required parts, and scheduling
• Maintain accurate documentation of service calls, parts used, and work performed
• Identify recurring issues and additional service or upgrade opportunities, and report trends to the Director of
  Operations
• Keep service vehicle, tools, and equipment organized, stocked, and in good working condition
• Assist with new installation projects and other Operations team support when service call volume allows
• Perform other duties as assigned

What You’ll Bring

• Ability to remain calm and solutions-oriented when handling client concerns
• Motivated self-starter who can work independently and collaboratively
• Ability to multitask and adapt to changing priorities
• Regular and reliable attendance
• Valid, insurable driver’s license
• Must pass a drug/alcohol screening and a criminal background check
• Reliable transportation and the ability to report directly to job sites or the office
• Maintains a professional appearance and demeanor consistent with company standards

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs of equipment and materials
• Ability to climb ladders and work at heights, including on roofs
• Ability to work in confined spaces such as attics, crawlspaces, and utility closets
• Ability to stand, kneel, bend, and reach for extended periods
• Ability to travel to multiple client sites throughout the day, in varying weather conditions
