Job summary

Lake Norman Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram is seeking an experienced automotive service technician to diagnose, repair, and maintain vehicles per dealership and manufacturer specifications. You will perform warranty work, conduct multi-point inspections, and explain findings to customers in clear terms.

Qualifications

  • At least 2 years of mechanical experience.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to read and comprehend technical instructions.
  • Valid driver's license with a good driving record.
  • Willingness to learn through manufacturer training.

Responsibilities

  • Perform work specified on maintenance and repair orders with efficiency and in accordance with dealership standards.
  • Execute repairs under warranty to manufacturer specifications.
  • Diagnose, maintain, and repair vehicle automotive systems (engine, transmission, electrical, etc.).
  • Perform multi-point inspections and ensure quality checks after each repair.
  • Explain diagnoses and repairs in non-technical language to service advisors and customers.
  • Test-drive vehicles and use diagnostic tools to verify repairs.
  • Record all repairs and recommendations in MPI/MPIFind systems.
  • Adhere to SOPs, safety rules, recalls, updates, and bulletins.
  • Maintain a clean, safe work area and assist with parts handling as needed.

Job Responsibilities:Perform work specified on maintenance and repair orders with efficiency and in accordance with dealership standardsExecute repairs under warranty to manufacturer specificationsDiagnose, maintain, and repair vehicle automotive systems, including engine, transmission, electrical, steering, suspension, brakes, air-conditioning, etc.Perform multi-point inspectionsExecutes the service SOP (Standard Operating Procedures) at all times.Utilizes AutoPoint and keeps all repair orders up to date and strives to maintain at least two recommendations per vehicle.Fix the vehicle right the first time! Make quality checks after each repair.Saves and tags parts of the job if under warranty or if requested by the customer.Explain mechanical diagnoses and required repairs in a non-technical manner to service advisors and customers, providing an estimate of the time needed for additional repairsTest-drive vehicles before and after repairs and test components and systems using diagnostic tools and special service equipmentClock on and off all repair orders as requiredLearn new technical information and techniques in formal training sessions to keep up with rapidly changing technologyParticipates in manufacturer-sponsored training programs, schools, and events.Adhere to company regulations and keep abreast of recalls, updates, and bulletins.Reports machinery malfunctions or defects to supervisor.Ensure the customer's vehicles are kept clean. Notifies service advisor immediately of anything that has happened to change the appearance or conditions of the vehicles.Input all vehicle recommendations and complete check sheets in MPIFind pricing and availability of needed parts in the 'notes' section in MPIReport any safety issues to management and ensure a clean working areaJob Qualifications:At least 2 years of mechanical experience requiredManufacture certification is a plus but not required.
