Job summary

carolina customs is seeking an experienced automotive technician to perform maintenance, repairs, and inspections on a variety of vehicles. You will interpret repair orders, diagnose mechanical issues, and work with customers to explain necessary fixes.

The role requires clean, safe work habits and ongoing participation in training. You will drive performance in a fast-paced shop, use diagnostic tools, and input all findings into MPI while maintaining up-to-date repair orders.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years of mechanical experience.
• Excellent communication and service skills.
• Ability to read and interpret instructions.
• Proven knowledge of vehicle mechanical operations.

Responsibilities

• Perform work specified on maintenance and repair orders in line with dealership standards.
• Diagnose, maintain, and repair vehicle systems including engine, transmission, electrical, brakes, and HVAC.
• Execute multi-point inspections and test-drive vehicles.
• Explain diagnoses and repairs in non-technical terms to service advisors and customers, estimating time for additional work.
• Input all vehicle recommendations and repair details in MPI; keep orders updated.
• Find pricing and availability of required parts in MPI notes.
• Maintain clean vehicles and work area; report safety issues to management.
• Adhere to company regulations and stay updated on recalls and bulletins.

Job Responsibilities:Perform work specified on maintenance and repair orders with efficiency and in accordance with dealership standardsExecute repairs under warranty to manufacturer specificationsDiagnose, maintain, and repair vehicle automotive systems, including engine, transmission, electrical, steering, suspension, brakes, air-conditioning, etc.Perform multi-point inspectionsExecutes the service SOP (Standard Operating Procedures) at all times.Utilizes AutoPoint and keeps all repair orders up to date and strives to maintain at least two recommendations per vehicle.Fix the vehicle right the first time! Make quality checks after each repair.Saves and tags parts of the job if under warranty or if requested by the customer.Explain mechanical diagnoses and required repairs in a non-technical manner to service advisors and customers, providing an estimate of the time needed for additional repairsTest-drive vehicles before and after repairs and test components and systems using diagnostic tools and special service equipmentClock on and off all repair orders as requiredLearn new technical information and techniques in formal training sessions to keep up with rapidly changing technologyParticipates in manufacturer-sponsored training programs, schools, and events.Adhere to company regulations and keep abreast of recalls, updates, and bulletins.Reports machinery malfunctions or defects to supervisor.Ensure the customer's vehicles are kept clean.
