Job summary

Vermeer Midwest-Marne is seeking a Service Technician for heavy equipment in Goodfield, IL. This full-time role involves hands-on inspection, maintenance, and repair of a variety of machines, with a day shift and Monday–Friday schedule.

The ideal candidate brings 2–5 years of repair experience or formal technical training, plus strong mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic skills. CDL-B preferred and a safety-focused, customer-service mindset is essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 2-5 years of experience repairing heavy equipment or completed formal tech training.
• Agricultural experience.
• Hands-on experience with electrical and hydraulic systems.
• Strong communication, organizational, and customer service skills.
• Self-motivated, safety-conscious, and time management.
• CDL Class B or higher preferred.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, maintain, and repair heavy equipment (drills, trenchers, excavators, etc.).
• Diagnose electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical issues with diagnostic tools.
• Perform preventative maintenance and repairs using hand/power tools.
• Lubricate, test, and troubleshoot equipment for safety and efficiency.
• Complete service tickets accurately and timely.
• Communicate repair status with customers and coordinate with teammates.
• Fill in as Field Service Tech as needed.

Do you have a passion for working with heavy machinery and solving complex mechanical problems? Join our team as a Service Technician and help keep essential equipment running at peak performance. We’re looking for a skilled professional who thrives in a hands-on environment and takes pride in quality workmanship.

What You’ll Do

• Inspect, maintain, and repair heavy-duty equipment such as directional drills, trenchers, brush chippers, excavators, aerial lifts, and more.
• Diagnose electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical issues using computerized tools.
• Perform preventative maintenance and repairs using hand and power tools.
• Clean, lubricate, test, and troubleshoot equipment to ensure operational efficiency and safety.
• Complete service tickets and documentation in a timely and accurate manner.
• Communicate repair status with customers and collaborate with fellow technicians as needed.
• Fill in as a Field Service Tech on an as needed basis.

What You Bring

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 2-5 years of experience repairing heavy equipment OR completion of a formal technical training program preferred.
• Agricultural experience
• Hands-on experience with electrical and hydraulic systems.
• Strong communication, organizational, and customer service skills.
• Self-motivated, safety-conscious, and time management skills.
• Computer literacy and familiarity with diagnostic tools.
• CDL Class B or higher preferred
