Job summary

Vermeer Midwest is seeking a Service Writer for our Aurora, IL location. This full-time, on-site role pays $32-$36/hour with overtime possible and a Monday–Friday day shift; weekends are not required.

You will initiate service and repair processes, verify warranty coverage, develop estimates, and maintain strong customer relationships. You’ll assign jobs to technicians, manage workflow, and ensure accurate invoicing while staying current on product knowledge.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of 4 years’ experience in vehicle or construction equipment service, or equivalent.
• Solid technical knowledge of equipment and repair processes.
• Detail-oriented and deadline-driven.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to safely operate a forklift and lift up to 50 pounds.
• Proficiency in CDK, Microsoft Office, and internet-based tools.
• Must pass background check, drug screen, and MVR check.

Responsibilities

• Assign service jobs to technicians based on skill, availability, and shop flow.
• Schedule road service calls efficiently and economically.
• Maintain proactive communication with customers regarding service status.
• Review and finalize repair orders for accuracy in parts, labor, and materials.
• Submit and reconcile warranty claims with vendors.
• Address and elevate customer complaints to the Service Manager.
• Stay current on technical and product knowledge for all equipment sold.
• Participate in company communication efforts including meetings and huddles.

What You’ll Do

We are seeking a highly organized and customer-focused Service Writer to join our team. This role is paid hourly and is not commission based.
