Job summary

Dead River Company is seeking a skilled Service Technician to install, troubleshoot, service, and repair oil and propane heating equipment for residential and light commercial customers in Maine. You will deliver professional service, protect property, and advise customers on suitable options based on their needs.

Qualified applicants will have relevant licenses (Maine Oil Burner and propane/natural gas) and training.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid Maine Oil Burner Technician license appropriate to work performed.
• Maine Propane/Natural Gas Technician license required for propane work.
• CETP/PEP training and certification for propane work.

Responsibilities

• Install, troubleshoot, service, and repair oil- or propane heating equipment per codes and company policies.
• Perform efficiency tests, tune-ups, and service inspections.
• Ensure work is done safely and correctly the first time to minimize callbacks.
• Provide professional, courteous service and explain options to customers.
• Maintain clean, organized service vehicle and safe tool/equipment condition.
• Accurately record parts and labor for service calls and manage inventory.

Job description

$21.26 - $31.90 an Hour Depending on Experience.

Position Summary:

Assists with the installation and repair of residential and light commercial propane and/or oil burner equipment and appliances while ensuring a high level of customer service. The responsibilities of this position are carried out with particular attention to maintaining customer property and working as a trusted advisor. The Service Technician serves as a Dead River Company ambassador by adhering to our Brand Promise.

Essential Functions:

• Install, troubleshoot, service, and repair oil and/or propane heating equipment and appliances in accordance with applicable codes, safety requirements, and company policies.
• Perform efficiency tests, tune-ups, and service inspections.
• Help ensure work is completed safely and correctly the first time to minimize callbacks.
• Deliver professional, courteous service while treating customers and their property with care.
• Help customers understand Dead River Company products and services and recommend appropriate options based on their needs.
• Maintain a clean, organized service vehicle and ensure tools and equipment are in safe operating condition.
• Accurately record parts and labor associated with service calls.
• Maintain and track parts inventory assigned to the service vehicle.
• Promptly report accidents, spills, and liability claims.
• For qualified propane technicians, perform Gas Check inspections according to applicable codes and company policies.
• Perform other work-related duties as assigned.

Experience:

• Successful completion of oil burner and or propane training course or CETP/PEP program desired; training and education provided.
• Previous heating technician experience preferred.

Education:

A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Technical school training is preferred.

Certification and Licensing:

• Must possess a valid Maine Oil Burner Technician license appropriate to the work performed.
• Must possess the applicable Maine Propane and Natural Gas Technician license/authority for propane installation, service, and repair.
• Applicable CETP/PEP training and certification required for propane work.
• HAZMAT endorsement preferred.
• Knowledge of HVAC, wiring and/or plumbing preferred.
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical.
• Must have a valid motor vehicle drivers’ license. Driving record is reviewed at employment, and annually thereafter, and must meet company standards. CDL is not required, but it is preferred.
