Job summary

Mossy Nissan National City is seeking a self-motivated Service Smog Technician with automotive knowledge to join our team. This full-time position includes a base pay range and productivity bonus potential, with comprehensive benefits.

The role focuses on inspecting, servicing, and preparing vehicles to meet factory and dealership standards, delivering quality service and customer satisfaction in a fast-paced shop environment.

Qualifications

• ASE certifications ideal.
• Strong automotive background.
• Must have clean & valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of current models and used vehicles.
• Perform work specified on the repair order with efficiency and in accordance with dealership policies.
• Test-drive vehicles and test components using diagnostic tools.
• Diagnose, maintain, and repair vehicle systems (engine, transmission, electrical, steering, suspension, brakes, A/C).
• Communicate with the Service Advisor about additional repairs and provide time estimates.
• Execute repairs under warranty to manufacturer specifications.
• Comply with company and legal requirements for vehicle repairs.

The Service SMOG technician inspects, service, and prepares new and used vehicles for sale according to factory and dealership standards, policies, and specifications.

The Service Technician Position has a Pay Scale consisting of the following elements and ranges. Wages include Base Hourly and Flag Rate Compensation of between $34.00 and $38.00, plus a productivity bonus equivalent up to a maximum hourly rate of $56.00 per hour based on individual performance.

Customer satisfaction is a result of your personal work habits and ethics and is of utmost importance as part of your job function. As a Service Smog Technician, the responsibility of customer satisfaction falls into the categories of completing the job correctly, cleanly, honestly, and on time.

The Service Smog Technician is also responsible for setting goals for personal service improvement and monitor progress against customer satisfaction index numbers and production numbers as provided by the Service Manager.

Responsibilities

• Maintaining up to date technical knowledge of current models and used vehicles sufficient to effectively communicate with service & sales staff
• Perform work specified on the repair order with efficiency and in accordance with dealership
• Test-drive vehicles, and test components and systems, using diagnostic tools and special service equipment
• Diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing vehicle automotive systems including engine, transmission, electrical steering, suspension, brakes, air conditioning, etc.
• Communicate directly with the Service Advisor so that customers can be informed if any additional service is needed. Providing an estimate of time needed for additional repairs
• Executing repairs under warranty to manufacturer specifications
• Complying with all applicable company and legal requirements controlling vehicle repairs

Qualifications

• Must have clean & valid driver's license
• OEM certifications are encouraged!
• Ability to exercise good judgment
• Technical or trade school degree preferred
• Clean driving record/ valid CA drivers license.
