Job summary

Cummins Inc. is seeking a Parts Counter Clerk to assist customers and technicians with securing parts and supplies. You will handle counter transactions, paperwork, and inventory tasks, while maintaining a neat parts area and supporting warehouse operations.

Role requires forklift operation, basic computer skills, and a customer-focused approach to upsell compatible products and services. On-site work with occasional front-counter support across the warehouse is expected.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications and reporting.
  • Experience in parts distribution or warehouse environment preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist distribution customers, technicians, and parts personnel in securing needed parts and supplies.
  • Process parts requests and paperwork; handle cash, checks and card transactions at the counter.
  • Maintain clean, organized parts area and warehouse; support stock levels and shipping/receiving tasks.
  • Collaborate with technicians to locate parts efficiently and upsell where appropriate.
  • Operate forklift and WAVe as needed; participate in front-counter duties and warehouse duties.

Job Summary

Responsible for assisting all Distribution Business customers, technicians, and other parts personnel in securing needed parts and supplies under moderate or direct supervision.

Key Responsibilities

Complies with Health, Safety, and Environmental standards, policies, procedures, and regulations. Uses appropriate personal protective equipment. Carries out customer parts counter duties under moderate supervision including receiving parts calls, greeting and assisting walk-in customers, completing all paperwork and processing it accordingly, handling cash, check, and credit card transactions. Maintains a favorable relationship with internal and external customers by addressing their needs and issues in a timely manner. Escalates customer issues to more senior parts personnel or supervisor when needed. Maintains a neat and clean appearance in the customer parts area and parts warehouse. Supports other parts personnel in sourcing and locating complex parts requests or finding alternatives under moderate or direct supervision. Utilizes various systems, catalogs, other resources, and collaborate with technicians to identify and procure the parts in the most cost and time efficient manner. Ability to identify and act on opportunities with customers to upsell supporting products and services, as appropriate. Perform other duties under moderate supervision that may include managing stock levels, shipping and receiving parts, warehouse activities, inventory management related tasks, core processing, or other parts-related duties as assigned by management.

Order Processing - Demonstrates the steps necessary to manage the processing of customer orders through order receipt, exception identification and resolution to ensure orders are fulfilled to customer requirements

Will require some warehouse work as well as supporting the front counter. Will require operating a forklift at times, as well as a WAVe.

Education, Licenses, Certifications

High school diploma or certificate of completion of secondary education or equivalent experience to the extent such experience meets applicable regulations.

Proficiency in Microsoft applications, generating reports, and advanced level computer skills.

This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

Experience

Requires some work experience or intermediate level of knowledge obtained through education, training, or on-the-job experience.

Salary rate commensurate with experience.
