Job summary

JBG SMITH is seeking a maintenance professional to support a service team responsible for apartment communities in the DC area. You will diagnose and repair HVAC, plumbing, electrical and carpentry issues, assist with move-out inspections, and help ensure high-quality service delivery.

The role requires leadership experience, a CFC certification, and boiler/chiller maintenance or HVAC-equivalent training, with a valid driver’s license and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma and 2–4 years of maintenance experience in apartments/hotels or similar.
• Prior leadership and supervisory experience.
• CFC certification and plumbing/electrical training.
• Boiler/chiller maintenance course for central plant communities, or equipment-specific course for individual HVAC.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation including on-call hours.

Responsibilities

• Assist Service Manager in building a cohesive service team through training and coaching.
• Demonstrate service-excellence and inspire high-quality work among team members.
• Respond to resident work orders to diagnose and fix HVAC, appliance, carpentry, electrical and plumbing issues.
• Assist with move-out inspections and unit make-ready processes.
• Perform repairs and preventative maintenance on building systems.
