Job summary

JBG SMITH is seeking a Service Manager to lead on-site maintenance teams at our Washington, DC properties. You will direct daily activities, coordinate with staff and vendors, and ensure high-quality, safe work across communities.

The role requires five years of maintenance leadership, a CFC certification, boiler/chiller or HVAC training, and a valid driver’s license. The position offers a competitive salary and benefits package.

Qualifications

• Five years of maintenance experience in apartments, hotels, or similar environment.
• Prior leadership and supervisory experience.
• CFC certification and plumbing and electrical training / proficiency is required.
• For communities with a central plant, completion of an approved course on boiler and chiller maintenance is required; for HVAC, completion of an approved course appropriate to that equipment is required.
• Passion for customer experiences and embodying core customer service elements: CARING, PROFESSIONALISM, EMPOWERMENT, LEADERSHIP, INCLUSION.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and dependable transportation, including on-call hours.
• Ability to routinely lift to 50 pounds (supplies, appliances).

Responsibilities

• Build a strong and cohesive service team that is technically proficient and motivated to perform.
• Set the daily work schedule to address work orders within 24 hours and manage emergencies including on-call hours.
• Conduct move-out inspections and oversee the make-ready process to have units ready within 5 days.
• Inspect the community daily to identify maintenance or repair needs.
• Perform repairs and preventative maintenance on building systems.
• Oversee work by vendors and staff to meet high quality standards.
• Utilize a cost-effective approach to order parts, procure contracts, and reduce waste.
• Maintain a safe work environment including safety training and inspections.
