Job summary

JBG SMITH is seeking a maintenance technician to uphold the highest standards in our Washington, DC communities. You will respond quickly to resident requests, diagnose and repair HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and carpentry issues, and perform routine preventive maintenance.

Based at Judd & Weiler, Washington, DC, you will work a flexible schedule, participate in on-call duties with a 30‑minute emergency response, and contribute to a safe, welcoming living environment.

Qualifications

• High-school diploma or equivalent and 2 years of maintenance experience in apartments, hotels, or similar environment.
• Ability to diagnose and repair HVAC equipment and appliances; knowledge of plumbing fixtures, basic electrical, carpentry, and use of tools.
• Valid driver’s license and dependable transportation; on-call hours.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Customer-service oriented with caring, professionalism, empowerment, leadership, and inclusion.

Responsibilities

• Assist in making all units ready for move-in.
• Respond to resident work orders to diagnose and fix HVAC, appliances, plumbing, electrical, and carpentry issues.
• Perform routine preventive maintenance on building systems.
• Inspect the community daily and identify maintenance or repair needs.
• Clear snow and ice during inclement weather.
• Work a flexible schedule and share on-call duties with 30-minute emergency responses.
